Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer or GIFT is one of the earliest types of fertility interventions but is still going strong today. Just like In Vitro Fertilization, the eggs and sperm, or Gametes, are gathered for later use. Healthy sperm and eggs are split then mixed together and placed in one of the fallopian tubes. So using this intervention, the impregnation happens inside the woman’s body just as it would normally without any other treatment. Nowadays there is a lot of talk about provestra. Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer intervention is often utilised when there is no apparent reason for infertility and there is no indication of blocked fallopian tubes. A sperm sample is taken from the man on the same day as the eggs are gathered from the woman unless the sperm has been given, in which case the sperm will need to be unthawed out first.
